RE: Hood won't close and No House Electric/gen working

Kwipee steps (sp??...I'm sure I'm not spelling it right)...and I *think* the wire is green...but at the moment, I'm still a bit woozie from my last up-side-down visit under the rig. Will check it's color again later.
Dusty...I've been to winnebago's site before asking. Wasn't successful there.

RE: Hood won't close and No House Electric/gen working

Thanks all. I am a V/N yahoo member, and they've gotten me straightened out on the hood (fyi, for other sprinter owners...the bolt/spring attachment can come out of the hood and lodge into the latch...and when you go to figure it out, you may be fooled into thinking it belongs in the latch...it doesn't...it goes into the hood.)
I did have the battery switch off, via hitting it while stowing some things. :o Thank heaven's it was a simple thing. Everything works now, except for my steps.
I don't know what is wrong there. Please do continue to offer advice. I will say though, that while I don't mind black, greasy, cut-up hands, I do mind lying under the rig looking up with a flashlight. It makes me dizzy and nauseous. Seriously. I may have to take it to a mechanic for the steps simply because I can't fix something if I'm getting sick!

Hood won't close and No House Electric/gen working

Neither are related, but I'm stranded until I can figure this out - I want to at least know what I'm talking about if I have to go to a mechanic/rv place. FYI: 2006 Winnebago View 23J
Problem 1: I opened my hood yesterday to check the oil and now it won't close right. I slammed it, softly dropped it, pushed on it while it was down...tried everything, including disassembling the locking gear so I could see if there was a problem I could figure out. There was nothing I could think of. It's an odd mechanism to me, and lest mine is different from others, I'll try and explain it: When the hood is open, one can see a bolt going through a sort of large washer/stopper and into the metal plate just above the grill work. The bolt has a spring on it, and this is all topped with a nut. It *seems* to me that when one closes the hood, the spring is forcefully pressed down, and the top of the bolt fits into a hole (seemingly sized just for it) on the underside of the hood itself.
The latch is fine...and I know the bolt mechanism moves to the right when one closes the hood. But for the life of me, I can't figure out why it won't close all the way...it will only latch.
Problem 2: I just had 2 new batteries installed about a week or so ago in the house. Everything was fine until I arrived today (I'm traveling) and I find my steps no longer work, and further investigation told me that no electric is going to the house at all. (I was plugged into a campground last night, for what that's worth, and was fully charged when I left this morning.)
I crawled under the rig with a flashlight and there is a wire that is hanging down under the non-working steps, that looks, frankly cut (clean), and I can't figure out where it should go. But it's only one wire.
I'm at a complete loss here, and I have to say a little suspicious about the wire.
Any ideas?
PS: Gen won't start either...even with engine on. Fridge is running on propane.

RE: Update on the permanent bath in the Roadtrek 190.

Wow. This was something I had been hoping for a while back, as some may recall. Too bad it came after I bought my View.
Thanks Rodger! Great report & pics.

RE: $2400 for Winnebago View Booth Seats??

I have the table already. I just want the booth seats put back in. Seems to me the dealer could buy the bucket chairs from me (ie: reduce the price by at least $1k), but surely that won't happen. They'd just hold onto the seats until the next person wanted them installed, and then charge that person a fortune.
I'm beginning to agree with someone who spoke about this dealer: great buys on rvs....but lousy, over-priced, and rude service thereafter.
Guess I'll find my own way to 2 booth seats.

1st Day of the Rest of My Life: I'm Officially A Full-Timer!

I took off yesterday and I now live in a 2006 Winnebago View 23J. It's official. I'm now an "old hand" at this with a full 24 hours under my belt.
:C :W
And here is the rig:

$2400 for Winnebago View Booth Seats??

I hate the bucket seats (previous owner's "upgrade") in my View 23J and want the booth seats put back in, not only for the more comfortable seating, but also for the ability to make it back into a bed. I just got a quote for the job and it was $2400!!! BEFORE labor!!
??!!
Does that sound right to you? I figured about $1k....not 3x that.

City/Zip

Just FYI: you made me lie! I'm a full-timer, and don't have an address, so for the State, I tried to pick "other/NA"...but it insists on a zip then.
I randomly picked a state/zip, lied in other boxes too. But the Other/NA should not require a zip...and for those of us who are fulltimers, the full address requirements are hard.

Monthly *Affordable* w/HU's Within 2hrs San Francisco?

I have spend 2 days searching and searching for a campground within 2 hours of San Fran that is safe, reasonable, has FHU, wifi, and won't cost more than $500 a month (including HU), and will allow a pup tent on the site. And I don't want a "parking spot" type place.
I'm dizzy from it.
Son is moving to area and I'm helping him with RV...need a monthly place that won't depress us as we look for an apartment for him.
All seem to be about $650 +++ ($$ extra car, taxes, HU on and on) or they don't allow a tent (son & girlfriend are NOT sleeping in my Skinny Winnie with me!)
I've nearly had it...can't look anymore.
Anyone?
